  1. Interpersonal and professional level of communication is required to be maintained because of the increasing complexity and duties of the police. The police manager must have high degree of communication skills so that every thing said and done is in line with constitution.
  2. More expectations are associated with the police mangers in terms of quality and performance. In addition to the complex and intricate policing problem, manager of the police will have to be with the information technology, research work, data recording and evaluation. Knowing and having hand on experience in so many fields is the challenge in itself.
  3. He or she must have the strong professional knowledge and the most appropriate degree to his or her field.
  4. Leadership quality with problem solving techniques are required in addition to other things. These are needed to face the challenges and while taking any decision. Also time management and representative skills can be a challenge at times because of so many jobs at a time for police managers.
  5. Think before hand is always a challenge for police managers. Visionary thinking is the requirement of the job as this job needs regular analysis, research and identifications. New type of crime needs new security. Also one must view the changing trends in the society and how these trends are going to affect the society in future. Any type of migration or a change must be anticipated before time. This can be a real challenge for the police managers to meet in the future.
  6. Constant learning can be a challenge for some as this job needs the constant and regular learning. Apart from the self-training, the training for the staff from time to time is also required. The police manager must find out the way it works, which training is required at what time and by whom.
  7. Working efficiently with time as well money is again a challenge for the police managers. He or she must deploy material as well human resources carefully and very efficiently.
