outlook for the Law Enforcement Jobs is excellent as, crime is a major
domestic policy concern and efforts continue to find effective responses
to it. Opportunities in policing are expanding with the passage of the
recent Crime Control Acts. Probation and parole offices are hiring in

There are over 20,000 law enforcement agencies in the United States alone, hiring about 100,000 new officers each year. Generally, starting pay ranges between $2,000 and $3,400 per month, depending upon the agency and location. Various Career Options available Police Officers They work in municipal police departments of various sizes and have general law enforcement duties including maintaining regular patrols and responding to calls for service. Special Police Agencies Public college and university police forces, public school district police, and agencies serving transportation systems and facilities are examples of special police agencies. State police officers (highway patrol officers) Arrest criminals Statewide and patrol highways to enforce motor vehicle laws and regulations. Detectives Investigators who gather facts and collect evidence for criminal cases. Drug Enforcement Administration Agents Enforce laws and regulations relating to illegal drugs. Secret Service Agents They protect the President, Vice President, Presidential candidates, foreign dignitaries and investigate counterfeiting & forgery of Government checks or bonds. Tax Officers Tax officers handle cases concerning income tax, wealth tax, gift tax, estate duty, etc. Forensic Scientist They are primarily concerned with the application of scientific principles for the investigation of crime. Criminologists Criminology deals with the scientific study of crime. While some criminologists work with forensic scientists scouting for evidence on the crime scene and later in labs, others work with psychologists, social workers and rehabilitation experts. Eligibility In every country, a law enforcement officer has to be a minimum of 21 years old and without any criminal record. Most international agencies prefer candidates with some type of law enforcement, psychology or/and criminology college education.
